FUKUOKA-KEN |
- Brief Description:Fukuoka has a population of about 5 million,
making it the 9th largest prefecture in Japan. Fukuoka has a remarkably
unique and interesting culture.
Attractions:'Yatai (street stalls)' More than 230 yatai
open for business each evening at the night markets in the
districts of Nakasu and Tenjin.

- Brief Description:Kagoshima has a large number of natural hot springs,
because of the Kirishima volcano range. Kagoshima is where Christianity was first introduced to Japan, in 1549.
Attractions:'The Sakurajima Visitors' Center'(Sakurajima-cho)
This facility provides visitors to the Kirishima-Yaku
National Park a wealth of information about the the nature and culture
of the area.

KUMAMOTO-KEN |
- Brief Description: Kumamoto is about an hour and a half away from
Tokyo by air. Filled with deep valleys, this area's volcano
is famous for having the best caldera in the world.
Attractions:'Kumamoto Castle' (Kumamoto City) This is one
of the most well known castles in Japan. It was built with original
architectural techniques which employ the use of natural landforms.

MIYAZAKI-KEN |
- Brief Description: Miyazaki's climate is mild all year long. The
people of Miyazaki are warm and welcoming, and the beautiful green
fields of this prefecture overlook the sea.
Attractions:'Oceandome'(Yamazaki-cho): the largest interior
water park in the world, as listed in the Guinness book of World
Records. The park was designed to resemble the Caribbean Sea.

NAGASAKI-KEN |
- Brief Description:Nagasaki is an active center of exchange between
Japan and the rest of the world. This prefecture has many influences
from both Europe and China.
Attractions: 'Huis Ten Bosch' (Theme park) (Sasebo)
A theme park designed as a recreation of a European town, mixed in with the natural
Japanese scenery. Huis Ten Bosch has amusement rides,
shops, and restaurants.

- Brief Description:Oita's climate is mild, and it has many natural hot springs. Oita is famous for its marine sport recreational areas.
Attractions:'Beppu Onsen (hot springs)'(Beppu City) Beppu
is the city of hot springs. There are also many recreational areas
where you can participate in sports like hang gliding and water skiing.

SAGA-KEN |
- Brief Description:Famous for its Arita porcelain, Saga is a place
where one can feel at home and experience the traditional culture
of Japan. Saga has long been active in various forms
of international exchange with its Asian neighbors.
Attractions:'China in the Park'(Nishi Arita-cho) In this
park you can see exhibits of Arita porcelain, as well as the lavender
garden(from May through June). You can also purchase orginal porcelain
pieces.

OKINAWA-KEN |
- Brief Description:Okinawa is the Southernmost and Westernmost
part of Japan. It consists of 160 islands. Because of its beautiful
sea and unique culture, it is a very popular tourist destination.
Attractions: Shuri castle (Naha city)This castle was destroyed
during WWII, but has since been restored to its original condition,
and made a national historic site.
